Dec. 25, 1947 – Oct. 20, 2010

Janet was born in Hamilton, Ontario on Christmas Day, 1947, a precious gift to her parents Bill and Lottie, and her sister Marilyn.

She passed away peacefully in the company of loved ones at home in 103 Mile on October 20, 2010.

Perhaps it was because she was born on Christmas Day that Janet embodied the spirit of giving; to her patients during her nursing career, to her family and to her friends. Janet had many talents. She was a top-notch cook and baker (her pies will be sorely missed!) and excelled at a variety of crafts.

Janet is survived by her devoted husband, Ray, her children Sarah (Ian), Tim (Tara) and Jeff (Vanessa), as well as her cherished grandchildren, Sarah (Little Sarah) Harris and William Watson. Janet is also survived by her sister Marilyn (Bill), her nephews Billy and Tom, and her niece, Lesley. Ray’s brothers and their families will also miss Janet dearly, as will her many friends.

A private family celebration of Janet’s life was held at Nielson Lake on Oct. 24, 2010 to share memories and celebrate the joys in life that Janet held dear. Flowers are gratefully declined, but donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Janet’s name would be appreciated.
