James Andrew LEIER

Died August 8, 2007 in 100 Mile House, age 83, after a courageous struggle with cancer. Jim is survived by his loving wife Margaret, sons Mark (Annette) and Ben (Heather), sister-in-law Christine Gray and nephews Jeff and Clint (Adina). He will be missed by family and friends; including Scott, Marian, Keri and Meridith Leier, and Rita Cranch. Jim was born in Allan, Sask. on August 26, 1923 and enlisted in the RCAF during World War II. He worked for the municipality of Delta for 25 years and was a member of CUPE Local 454, retiring in 1984 as superintendent of public works. He was active in minor league soccer, football and baseball and was a paddock judge at Patterson Park Race Track. He was an officer of Royal Canadian Air Cadet 828 Hurricane Squadron from 1975 to 1980, and was its commanding officer 1977-79. Jim joined the Freemasons’ Keystone Lodge No. 115 and belonged to the Gizeh Temple and its Drum and Bugle Corps. In 100 Mile House, he was a member of Mount Begbie Lodge No. 183 and Centre Lodge No. 113, and was a charter member of Big Country Shrine Club 50. Private service by request. Interment to follow at Boundary Bay Cemetery, Delta, B.C.
