February 7, 1929 - October 10, 2022
The Jongbloets family lost an angel on October 10, 2022, when Hendrika Louisa Jongbloets (Kuijpers) passed away peacefully at the age of 93, with her family at her side. Born on February 7, 1929 in Den Helder, Holland, Rica witnessed the Second World War and the hardships it brought to her family through the eyes of a young girl.
After the war, she met and married Cornelius (Cor) on September 23, 1950 in the Dutch town of Tillburg where they later welcomed the births of their daughter, Launi, and son, Tony.
In 1957, the young family took a leap of faith and moved to Canada with just a few hundred dollars in their pockets and what possessions they owned packed into a couple of steamer trunks.
Rica had a great love for children and many happy years were spent living in Vancouver and Delta operating a daycare and welcoming with open arms, several foster kids into their home.
As retirement age came along, Rica and Cor set their sights on the Cariboo and made a bold move in 1985 to build a new life at 83 Mile. Fishing, hunting, camping, cutting firewood, gardening, spending time with family and friends and square dancing filled their days.
They were long time members of the 70 Mile Rip 'n Snorters square dance club where they made many friends and many great memories. Rica loved to sew and knit and made sure her family members were never without a new sweater.
Her four grandchildren and two great grandchildren gave her the greatest joy and she was excited each year to share her birthday celebration with great granddaughter, Evelyn, who was also born February 7. Rica and Cor were fortunate to celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary shortly before her passing.
Rica, or Oma, as she was best known to her family, leaves behind her husband Cornelius Jongbloets, daughter, Launi Taylor (Justen), son, Tony Jongbloets (Arlene), grandchildren, Angala (Rob), Michelle (Matt), Tessa (Travis), Scott, (Kristen) and great grandchildren, Evelyn and Zoey.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.
"Rust goed Moeder."
