July 5, 1941 - May 30, 2024
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gordon Duncan Marshall, May 30th, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. His loving wife Wendy was at his side. Gordon's wishes were to live at Lac Des Roches, BC until his death, and we are all so grateful he was able to live such a healthy and vibrant life, full of family and friends.
Gordon was born on July 5th, 1941, in Edmonton, Alberta, and was raised in Vancouver. He married Wendy Jeanette Welsh on August 18, 1961. They lived in West Vancouver before settling in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, early 1975.
Predeceased by his father Jack Sheldon, and mother Dorothy, Gordon is survived by Wendy, their two sons Jeffrey Thomas, Kenneth Gordon (Maria), and daughter Deborah Lynne (Duanne Popadinac). Grandchildren Taylor (Asia), Derek (Natalie), and Lauren (Reece). Gordon is also survived by his only brother, James Sheldon (Joan).
Gordon's career included working in the first data systems with NCR, and EDP Industries. He and Wendy also worked together on their own cattle ranch, Highland Herefords (Lone Butte, BC). He finally retired from a long and successful career in real estate. He was an avid fly fisherman, leaving behind literally hundreds of the most beautifully hand-tied artificial flies! Gordon was a steward of Lac Des Roches, keeping data logs, and sharing them with authorities for over two decades.
Gordon was a member of Pennask Lake Fishing & Game Club, where he and Wendy visited every year for decades, including their last trip together in 2023! He was a self-proclaimed mediocre golfer, and a dedicated fan of both baseball, and hockey.
In keeping with Gordon's wishes, there will be no service, only a small family gathering to celebrate his life. Donations may be made to South Cariboo Health Foundation.
