George Stewart Begg, 90, of 100 Mile House, BC, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 9, 2019 in 100 Mile Hospital surrounded by his family. George was born July 30, 1928 in Souris, Manitoba to William and Jesse (Wilson) Begg. He trekked west when he was 17 years old and eventually settled in Lac La Hache, BC where he met Joyce Mary Sutherland when she visited her mother's family (Felker's) at the 118 Mile homestead. On August 20, 1960, he married Joyce in Lac La Hache. George was a man of many talents, he worked on a ranch in his early years before changing gears and becoming a heavy equipment operator. He finished out his career as a grader operator at Ainsworth Lumber in 100 Mile House. He was honorable, kind, sweet, charismatic, and gentle, he cared about people, animals and life with a passion unlike anyone. His integrity knew no bounds. George retired in July of 1993 and spent the rest of his time enjoying his home, golfing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to the people at Carefree Manor in 100 Mile for their dedication and assistance for the past year and to Dr. Nicolson and the nurses (Stephanie, Daphne, Sara, Chloe and Kim), of 100 Mile Hospital for their loving care and support during his final days.

George is survived by his two children, son Tim Begg and his wife Bronnie of Lac La Hache, BC and, daughter Julie Watson and her husband Bruce of Grande Prairie, AB; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Brandon Watson (Lynda); six great-grandchildren, Lucas, Averie, Blake, Brody (Nicholas), Alexis and Jace (Brandon), along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; William and Jesse, his sisters; Myrt, Hannah and brother Chester; and his beloved wife Joyce in 2012.

In George's honor we will live our best life. We will love, forgive and offer the best of who we are for when the times comes for our journey to end we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue on. Learn from your mistakes but never regret.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019. Further details will be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the BC & Alberta Guide Dogs or the BCSPCA.
