Born in Deloraine, Manitoba, October 14, 1909 and died June 09, 2011 in 100 Mile House, B.C.
George was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years Pansy Lucy, his grandson James, great-granddaughter Ellen as well as all his sisters and brothers. He is survived by his daughter Ellenor Wallace, son Herbert (Donna) Gutteridge and daughter Marjorie (John) Rutherford. George’s family moved from Manitoba to New Westminster in 1920. He had a great love for boating and owned three boats of his own; ‘Herb-Ella’, ‘Pansy O’, and the ‘Andaraina’. George went back to school for electrical and diesel courses then joined the army in New Westminster in September of 1939. After having served in the military for 16 years, including overseas service, George returned to Canada in 1945. He commenced service with the Federal Government in 1955 and retired in 1974. George and Pansy made their home in Forest Grove from 1981-1991. They then moved to Vernon, 1991-1998. His heart called him back to the Cariboo in 1998 where he found himself living at Buffalo Creek on Pine Valley Drive, this is where he stayed. George worked hard with honesty and integrity to help anyone who needed anything fixed or simply a helping hand. He loved to tinker and “repair anything made by man.” A private family graveside service was held on Thursday, June 16th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby, B.C. A memorial service to honour George will be held in 100 Mile House and announced at a later date.
