Dec. 26, 1944 – July 23, 2009
The family of Gary Porter are very sad to announce his passing in the 100 Mile Hospital on the 23rd of July, 2009, after a long illness with C.O.P.D. with his sister Penny Sellar and old friend Josie Sanford by his side.
Gary moved to Lac la Hache in 1956 and lived there until his death. He was predeceased by his father Doug Porter, mother Marjorie Ogden, sister Gail Porter and stepfather Peter Skene Ogden.
He is survived by older brother Sheldon Porter, Carmen Cheney, Penny Sellar (Scottie), all of Campbell River; sister Nancy Wilson of Hazelton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him. He had an enormous heart and was always there to help those less fortunate than him, and some that had more than he did but just happened to mention that they would like or needed something.
There will be no service.
The family would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the nurses and Hamish for all the care they gave to Gary. Also Josie and Earl Sanford for their care and keeping us up to date with Gary’s health. Thank you also to Paulette and Blanche MacAloney for their kindness. To Gary’s extended family in Lac la Hache, a heartfelt thank you!!
