Gary Plautz, 78, of Horse Lake passed away surrounded by family on December 8, 2024.
Gary was born to Henry (Hank) and Kathleen (Kay) Plautz on March 15, 1946, and he and his siblings grew up at the family sawmill at Canim Lake. His childhood and early adulthood at Canim Lake are the source of many family stories. While he spent much of his career logging and welding in northern BC, the pull of his beloved Cariboo saw him return to the 100 Mile House area at Horse Lake in 1995.
Gary is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Shirley, daughter Angela (Jamie), son Karl (Desirae), brother Wayne Plautz, sisters Marilyn Ray and Katherine (Kitty) Rendall, and grandchildren Kaatje, Rowan and Ari. Gary loved flying in the mountains and cruising on his Harley and will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his love of animals, and his devilish sense of humour.
