In loving memory ~
1938 - 2024
With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Fran Peterson on August 22, 2024, at the age of 85.
Fran was born and raised in Powell River and moved to the lower mainland shortly after to raise her young family.
In 1972, Fran made a bold move to the Cariboo with her husband Carl and their two young children, Margo and Barry. Later they would be joined by Fran's mother, Lily, lovingly referred to as Granny Clapp.
Fran's journal from those years tells in detail the many challenges they faced at their homestead on Sheridan Lake. But Fran was a fighter and she worked tirelessly to lay down roots here.
After their children left home, Fran and Carl returned to the lower mainland where Fran would forge her own path in life, working many different jobs to make ends meet. Her resilience and hard work were a testament to her strong character.
No matter where life took her, some of Fran's happiest times in life were spent here at Sheridan Lake, where she met many wonderful lifelong friends. She also kept contact with many friends from her younger years in Powell River, another sign of her commitment to those she loved.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Evergreen Timbers in Langley who cared so much for Fran during her time there.
Fran is predeceased by her parents Donald and Lillian Clapp. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Margo (Pat), Barry (Ruth) and grandchildren Kristie (Tim), Jesse (Krista), Leah (Kevin) and Jiley (David) as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Fran will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery at Roe Lake on October 5th followed by a gathering for family and friends.
"Mom, your love, guidance and
strength will always be with us.
Rest in Peace."
