Etienne Paul WEGELIN

January 11, 2006

1937 - 2006

On Wednesday, January 11th, 2006, Etienne Paul Wegelin passed away. He was released from his pain at 2:45 p.m. at Royal Inland Hospital with family and friends lovingly surrounding him. Paul was born April 7th, 1937 in Calgary, Alberta to parents Phyllis and Jacques Wegelin. On the 28th day of May 1956, Paul joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, graduating from “N” Division, Recruit Training in Ottawa. While posted in Prince George, Paul met Geri Stefano at work. Their marriage on September 7th 1962 started a love affair that will last forever. Paul’s first posting was to Kamloops, BC. In his 27-year career he was posted throughout BC, ending back in Kamloops. Not one to relax in retirement, Paul became a Fraud Investigator with Human Resources for the Province of BC for the next 18-years. Paul enjoyed both careers immensely, but his heart was always with the RCMP. Paul leaves behind his loving wife Geri, son Steven (Janis Lauder) and daughter Danielle (Troy Bronken). Also cherishing Paul’s memory are brothers Gaspard, David and families and sister Ida. Paul was loved by the Stefano family. He will be missed and remembered by everyone he knew. Paul touched many lives: helping neighbours and friends – he will be forever remembered as the man on the little orange tractor. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at the Kamloops United Church, 421 St. Paul St., with Rev. Patricia McColl officiating. Should friends desire, donations may be made to Prostate Cancer Research, Att’n. Dr. Kim Chi, BC Cancer Agency, 600 W. 10th Ave., Vancouver, BC, V5H 4E6 in Paul’s name.
