The family of Ernestine Pope is sad to announce her peaceful passing on May 16th at Fischer Place at the age of 89 years. Ernie was born February 20, 1928 in the then country of Newfoundland.

Ernie’s pioneer spirit brought her westward to Vancouver where she met and married her husband, Stephen Pope (deceased), and raised two children, Selina and Kean Pope.

On retirement from paediatric nursing, she moved to the Cariboo with her husband and son, and enjoyed the next two decades lakeside at Timothy Lake, later moving to 100 Mile House.

Ernie was passionate about the outdoors and enjoyed many and varied adventures hiking in alpine meadows, skiing, boating, camping, and gardening. Ernie will always be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her strong sense of family, her selflessness, and her loving and caring nature; she was cherished by all who knew her.

Many thanks to Dr. Street and everyone at Fischer Place who so lovingly cared for Ernie in her final years.
