In Loving Memory ~
Edward Niemiec was born on July 12th, 1933, in Insinger, Saskatchewan. During his teenage years Ed's family relocated to Vancouver. In 1954 he moved to 100 Mile House, the town that would win his heart and become his home for the rest of his life.
In 1974 Ed met Marilyn. They married the following year.
Ed enjoyed a long career as a welder and a mechanic. He worked for many years with Fraser Brothers and enjoyed the challenges his work as a tow truck operator often presented. He then worked for Ainsworth Lumber, in the shop and on the service truck. He was proud to earn his welding certificate while working for Ainsworth and remained with the company until retirement.
Ed was a well-known and well-loved resident of 100 Mile. He was always ready to help friends and did so with his trademark quick wit. In his retirement he kept busy lending a hand to anyone in need of assistance. He was happiest on his John Deere tractor, plowing his neighbours' driveways in Cariboo winters and haying with his buddy, Neil, in the warmer months. In his later retirement, Ed became an enthusiastic cook.
"Uncle Ed" had many nieces and nephews. They will never forget how he would have them in fits of giggles during their childhoods. As they grew into adulthood, his nieces and nephews enjoyed visiting Ed and Marilyn's property where they would gather in the big yard. U
ncle Ed enjoyed meeting the next generations of children - his great and even great great nieces and nephews. They will all carry fond memories of meeting and riding the many horses Ed and Marilyn adopted over the years. All his relatives will dearly miss Ed's famous Saskatoon pies and cheese bread.
Ed will be missed by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn, his brothers and his sister, his extended family, and his many, many friends.
Ed did not want a service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The South Cariboo Health Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
