It is with deep sadness that the family of Douglas Robert Hooper announces his passing on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the age of 74 years.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Shannon (Craig) McGillivray of North Vancouver, B.C.; Sherry (Rick) Hannah of London, Ont. and their children Brennan, Justin and Richard; and Shelley (Ricardo) Cerna of Calgary, Alta. and their daughter Raquel. He is also survived by a brother, Richard (Trudy) Hooper and three sisters: Gloria (Wayne) Fox, Sandra (Jim) Wainwright, and Loretta Hooper; a sister-in-law, Diane (Ken) Johnson; as well as several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. Doug was predeceased by his wife, Carol McLaren (2002); a brother, Ken Hooper; a grandson, Ricardo Cerna; and parents, Douglas Boxell Hooper and Grace Muriel Metcalfe.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at the St. Michael’s Centre, Burnaby, B.C., for the incredible care and compassion given to Doug in his last years. We cherished the time we had with him and he is dearly missed. Until we meet again....
Doug’s career spanned many areas and he spent over 30 years selling Watkins Products and 20 years selling Electrolux vacuums in the 100 Mile House area.
He was happiest when he was out talking to people and enjoyed the role of a salesman.
He was a member of The Church or Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was active in his faith. He will always be remembered for his pleasant disposition and the phrase, “Have a nice day.”
