December 12, 1948 - August 29, 2024
In loving memory ~
Doug was born in New Denver, BC, December 12th, 1948 and died in 100 Mile House, BC, on August 29th, 2024.
He met Pam, the love of his life, on Saltspring Island in March 1969. They married on Saltspring Island at Walker's Hook on September 12, 1969.
From their initial trip together-four months in Europe shortly after being married-Doug and Pam both appreciated and loved to explore the world. Doug's career afforded the ability to travel to many places as well as live in them. Doug and Pam were able to live in multiple countries and visit countless more, passing on the joy of exploration to their two sons.
When electing to pursue something, Doug always committed fully, be that his family, work, travel, the Boy Scouts, the Interlake's Volunteer Fire Department (2006-2019), or the house they built for their retirement on Henley Lake.
He and Pam raised 2 children-Brendan and Evan-of whom he was so proud. Doug is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Clare and Amy, a brother-in-law, Dave, as well as other younger relatives. Doug will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Doug's family will hold a private service. Though affected by Alzheimer's, Doug's fundamental character always shone through the disease. For the last two and a half years Doug resided in Fischer Place. We would like to thank the staff for their care and kindness to both Doug and Pam. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of British Columbia or Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières.
