Doug MacLeod

March 19, 2004

Doug MacLeod was a very special man. In his full life he was a loving husband, father, brother, family member and a proud grandfather. He was a caring foster father and a good friend to the huge number of people he knew throughout his lifetime. As a teacher of 31 years, Doug was a true advocate for the community and the disadvantaged. He was also an avid curler, coach, dance instructor, kazoo band member and a seldom-bountiful but ever-optimistic fisherman. In everything he did, he shared his varied knowledge, teasing nature, and his gentle commitment with the people around him. He was an active Cariboo resident nearly all of his life. Doug was passionate about our family gathering place at Ruth Lake. Creating places for friends and family to meet and mingle was immensely important to him. Retirement and Grandpahood suited Doug well and in the last years of his life he was particularly happy and content. His sudden passing has surprised us all and has left a huge hole in our lives. Please join us for a celebration of Doug’s life Wed., March 24 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Jude’s Catholic Church on Horse Lake Road. There will be a casual reception to follow in the church hall. Instead of flowers, friends may donate to the Doug MacLeod Youth Fund at the Royal Bank. This fund will provide advantages for young adults with special needs in our community.
