Dorothy Joyce Kirkland (Dot) departed this world peacefully, on Thursday, February 9th, 2023 at age 88 in 100 Mile House, B.C.
Dorothy was born on July 13th, 1934 in Manitoba in the Miami Cottage Hospital. She was the 4th child of Elsie and Willis Lewis. She was predeceased by her husband, Hubert John Kirkland (1995) and her siblings, Jimmy, Fay, Jack, and Effie. She is survived by her siblings, Wendy and Marion.
She married Hubert John Kirkland on October 30th, 1954 in Roland, Manitoba and they moved to 100 Mile House in 1965. Together they had 3 children, Patricia Joy, Hubert John (Debbie) and Kimberley Joan. Dorothy is survived by her 3 children, 5 grandchildren, Trevor (Kaleena), Jaret (Kimi), Melissa (Ryan), James, and Jennifer (Justin) and 14 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy's family and friends were very important to her. She loved deeply, stayed connected and never forgot a birthday. She embraced so many and ensured everyone felt like family, sharing God's love with all, along with freshly made buns, cinnamon buns, chocolate cake and toffee.
Special thanks to the caring nurses and staff at 100 Mile House Hospital and the many home care aids, family and friends who provided love and comfort to Dorothy on her journey home.

A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 18th, 2023 at Hillside Community Church, where she spent over 5 decades volunteering, greeting guests warmly and investing her life serving others.
