Ode to my poetry loving mother

Born in 1925 and died just days ago.

The kindest, gentlest lady that you could wish to know.

Predeceased by husband Frank, you were his much loved wife.

Survived by doting family, you were grateful for your life.

In earlier days you loved to walk whether countryside or coast.

In later years you liked to write to friends who meant the most.

In England, you had a shop which sold the latest fashion

In a 16th century building. London buying sprees were your passion.

In later years you entertained, chocolate cake with afternoon tea.

You researched things and banked on line and e-mailed friends and me!

We had a chance to say goodbye, we wished it was hello.

We knew that you were ready but it's sad to see you go.

Survived by daughter Shirley (Garth), granddaughters Sara (Daniel), Clare (Rodney) and great grandchildren, Teagan, Kendall, Gibson, Macky and Lauren.

Thank you to Dr.Street, his care was amazing, and to the wonderful home care supporters and hospital staff.

We are lucky to live in such a caring community.
