HENDERSON, Derek Lee - Born January 5, 1981 in 100 Mile House, BC. Derek died a tragic sudden death on December 24, 2007. He will be sadly missed by his parents, Rodger & Ivy Henderson, and sister Tracy, niece Chelsey, Grandmother’s Claudine Henderson and Margaret DeWees, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and numerous friends. He lived in Lac La Hache until he was four years old and then moved to 100 Mile House where he attended school, graduating from Peter Skene Ogden Senior Secondary in 1999. He loved the Cariboo lifestyle of fishing, dirt biking, hunting, waterskiing and quading. His passion was snowmobiling in the mountains with his best friend Rodger, his father, along with his cousin Brian Henderson, friend Trevor Dion, and Trevor’s father Pierre. As a young man Derek spent many hours after school and on weekends working for Sunrise Ford doing various duties. He started with washing cars and advanced to a vehicle salesperson. After Sunrise Ford, Derek ventured north to work in the oil industry at Rainbow Lake in Alberta where he drove a hydro vac truck for Rusch Incorporated. After a few years he moved to Grande Prairie, Alberta where he worked in the oil industry until he began another adventure in life “his own business,” contracting road mats and expanding his company Rig Tech into a down hole equipment business. Derek was currently contracting for AL MC Oil Field Productions - which Derek said was the best job he ever had. In his time in Alberta, Derek met many many new wonderful friends whom he enjoyed bringing home to introduce them to the Cariboo, where he always loved spending his time off. Derek strived to excel in all ventures of his life and enjoyed many successes. Derek was buried at 100 Mile House Cemetery on Friday, December 28, 2007. Family and friends celebrated Derek’s life on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 100 Mile House Community Hall.
