July 1, 1943 – Nov. 22, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David John Oliver. Dave was born in Claresholm, Alberta and spent a colourful life as a bouncer at several establishments in White Rock, BC. He also spent almost 30 years as a commercial fisherman. Dave moved his family to the Cariboo in 1981 where he began a herd of purebred Red Angus cattle. During this time he also worked at the local West Fraser Mill, upon his retirement Dave returned his focus back to the purebred Red Angus herd.
Dave was a very passionate man who loved his family dearly. He was also very social, finding time for everyone, often planning a “quick trip to town” and returning hours later than expected because of time he spent chatting with people or having coffee with friends.
Dave is survived by his partner Annmarie Hamel; his children, Wayne, Deleah Nadin (Dave), Dean (Tanis); his stepdaughters, Erica and Andrea Hamel; grandchildren, Brandon, Parker, Gabrielle, Sophie and Julianne; and his sisters, Marilyn Fairclough and Connie Nygard. He was pre-deceased by his wife Judy, in January of 2001.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Martin Exeter Hall Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at 2:00pm followed by a Reception at Smitty’s Restaurant from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David’s memory to a 4-H club in your local area to support youth involved.
