September 27, 1950 - March 9, 2021
Daniel LeRoy Goertz passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on March 9, 2021 after a brief illness with cancer leaving to mourn his loving wife Ruth and three children Tanya, Jeremy and Trent and families.
Dan was born on September 27, 1950 in New Westminster, B.C. to Henry and Lenora Goetz. He along with his 2 brothers and 3 sisters were raised in a
Godly home filled with love and laughter.
In 1960 the family moved to Forrest Grove, B.C. and then after high school, Dan returned to the lower mainland to attend Trinity Western College. During that time, he fell in love with his pastor's daughter Ruth, and they were married on April 1, 1972.
After they moved to Quesnel, they were blessed with their daughter Tanya(1973). In 1975 their little family moved to Williams Lake where Jeremy (1976) & Trent (1979) joined the family. It was at that time while working for Erwin Homes and Rod Voth that he learned the trade of carpentry. In 1982, he started working at Weldwood Plywood Plant which is now West Fraser and has remained a faithful and well-loved employee up until his illness.
Dan's passion for fishing was so evident for all those who knew him. The only thing that outweighed that love was his love for his family.
He will lovingly be missed and remembered by his beloved wife Ruth of 49 years, his children Tanya (Colin) Parada, Jeremy (Terlyn) Goertz, Trent (Niki) Goertz and their six grandchildren Coltyn (Sadie) Parada, Dalyn (Kryshandra) Parada, Austyn (Nadia) Parada, Jaelyn & Hinten Goertz, Paisley Goertz and one great granddaughter Avaya Parada. Also left to mourn his passing are 5 siblings, brother-in-laws sister in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
We would like to thank our family and friends as well as West Fraser Plywood staff and co-workers for the outpouring of love and support during this very difficult time in our lives.
