1985-2010
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Courtney Dee Nelson, in her home at 103 Mile House, on Thursday, September 16, 2010.
Courtney was born in Chilliwack, BC on May 1st, 1985. A very lively child, she enjoyed being with people and making new friends. She went on her first family camping trip in 1987 and never stopped loving being in the outdoors.
In 1990, she and her family moved to 70 Mile House to begin a new adventure far from bright city lights. She attended 70 Mile Elementary, a proud member of the ‘Skitters,’ our school team. There was a surprising number of children her age and she quickly made new friends. The children would roam from house to house, like locusts, eating and playing and growing up together.
Courtney was a loving mother, devoted partner and definitely a family-oriented person. She will be sorely missed.
She leaves to mourn her partner Dean Rohrke, her son Devan; brothers Vaughan (Julie Honour) Nelson, Steven (Rochelle Price) Raphael; sister Maria Raphael, also Ernest, Colin, Keegan and Eileen Combes. Also grieving are mothers Rose Raphael and Dee Nelson, uncles Dan Raphael and Fred (Darlene) Raphael, her in-laws Fred and Maureen Rohrke and brother-in-law Andrew (Shayna) Rohrke; nieces Tatiana, Gabriella, Darci-Rose, Mia; nephews James, Michael, Dominick; along with many, many cousins and dear friends.
She was pre-deceased by her loving brother Skyler Whitney Nelson in 2007.
An Open House – Memorial Gathering will be held at 12 noon on Saturday October 9, 2010 at the 70 Mile Community Hall.
