Oct 13, 1940 – Jan 29, 2011

Claire Yvette Warburton passed peacefully away with family on Jan. 29, 2011 at the age of 70. In addition to being a beloved mother and wife, she was a hard worker. When asked about her occupations, she would talk about her days driving dump trucks and working in lumber, shake and shingle mills throughout British Columbia despite her petite size. She was known for her energy and spirit, a fireball who loved cooking, fishing and her family. Your prime rib roast will be forever missed.

Claire was born the youngest of nine children on Oct. 13, 1940 in Picardville, Alta. to David and Irma Valcourt. She moved to Victoria B.C. around the age of six where she grew up and had her four children. At the age of 32, Claire moved to 100 Mile House with her children. There she later met and married the love of her life, Gordon Warburton, in 1987. Claire worked as manager of their business, Comet Appliance, until they retired last year. For the past eight years she has resided in Ashcroft with Gord and her mother-in-law, Violet Warburton. Her wish was to spend time on their boat visiting the islands on the BC coast.

She is survived by her husband Gordon Warburton; siblings Leopaul (Flore) Valcourt, Lucielle Theberge, Helen Curothers, Napoleon (Rosita) Valcourt, Lugene (Myrna) Valcourt; mother-in-law Violet Warburton; children Richard (Laura) Pistell, Annette Meade, Robert (Judy) Pistell, Ron (Pam) Pistell, Tom Warburton; grandchildren Rachael, Danielle, Cody, Larissa, Matthew, Callum, Aspen, Meghan, Justin, Josh, Tasha; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; brothers Leonel Valcourt, Phil Valcourt; and sister Gertrude Valcourt.

Claire had fond memories of where she and Gord shared their marriage vows, holidays, anniversaries and family reunions while camping at Green Lake. A celebration of her life will be held at Green Lake, B.C. in the summer where her most cherished moments with her family and friends were spent beside the campfire with a hot rock from the fire under her seat (because Mom hated to be cold).
