Cheryl Lynn Johnson (Purcha) longtime resident of Grande Prairie, AB passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the age of 44, in Grande Prairie after a short and aggressive battle with cancer. Cheryl was born in Williams Lake but grew up in 100 Mile House, BC.
Sometimes writing about someone you love that is no longer with us is difficult. Writing words to describe Cheryl and her life is actually quite simple.
She had a heart of gold, never asked for much in return, taught her kids how to love and to be loved. She taught them to always "Be humble and kind". She often donated to the turkey drive and donated clothes to the less fortunate.
Family meant the world to her, attending as many functions as she could, even when not feeling well, so she could see everyone and create those memories. She always looked beautiful, beautiful inside and out. She had the most amazing green thumb, clearly inherited from her mom Tillie. The
girls looked forward to all the yummy veggies she would grow every year. When her favourite wrestlers came to town she was front row, giving them s**t!
Her friends..... what can you say, very important people in her life. They were true to her, supported her, and loved her. What an amazing gift! She appreciated all of you, always. She was a very spiritual and had faith, in the way she believed there was more after life. She prayed everyday at 1:11. She also left this world around the same time, by chance? Maybe, but she would say no, it was the plan all along.
Music was a huge part of Cheryl's life. She had the best song selection ever!. She loved her country music, all kinds of music, playing it quietly while laying in bed, gave her comfort. She loved to go camping, packing up the motorhome and heading out, loved to go fishing and being outdoors enjoying nature.
She was met at the gates of heaven by her mom Tillie, countless family members and some very close friends whom she loved dearly.
She is the baby of our family forever! Her time was cut short, but the memories are abundant! We are all blessed to have been a part of her life.
In Cheryl's memory, do something kind for someone in need. Sit around a campfire have a Lucky, play "Drops of Jupiter" by Train and share memories and most importantly, tell them you love them. Time waits for no one. Rest in peace beautiful lady, you are a gem and heaven is lucky to have you!
We love you! See you later kid!
Cheryl is survived by her father Ted Purcha (100 Mile House); 7 brothers Jim (Pearlene), Dave (Brenda), Dean (Karen), Dale (Sandy), Don (Sam), Paul (Val), Kelly; and 3 sisters Sharon, Shelley and Grace (Mike) and her 2 beautiful daughters Tylena and Arionna Johnson.
