Art Schoenknecht, 96, passed away on Aug. 1, 2016. Born March 24, 1920 in Hay Lakes, Alberta to Rudolf and Julianne he grew up farming with his two brothers Edwin and Lawrence and three sisters Elsie, Millie and Martha.
Art married Vera (Reznik) and they moved to Lac la Hache where he worked in sawmills around the area. Art has lived in the Lac la Hache/100 Mile House area for the past 60 years during which time he was an active member of the community, volunteering and belonging to various organizations.
He lived a full and amazing life, filled with people, adventures and things he loved. Art’s three children Shirley (Michael Oetheimer), Randy (Deborah) and Larry (Marian) and their families are sad to announce the passing of this great man. He will be deeply missed by family and friends but will remain in our memories and hearts.
There will be a celebration of life for Art on Oct. 2, 2016 at the OAP in Lac la Hache at 1 p.m.
