In Loving Memory ~
Art passed away peacefully on Nov 3, 2021 at the age of 94. He was born in Saskatchewan, where hard times, forced him to leave home at the early age of 16. He made his way to BC by hopping trains with 25 cents to his name. He was introduced to the logging industry and worked very hard at hand falling, dozer operator and mechanic. He worked in Crescent Spur, Monte Lake, Riske Creek and finally settled at Canim Lake in 1958.
Art was part owner in the logging company, HRB Logging, and truly enjoyed being a part of the forestry industry.
He worked with his TD25 Cat for many years, as an owner operator, on projects like Mt. Timothy Ski Hill (he often came home to comment how those sklers were crazy to
come down those steep grades at full speed) Coquihalla highway, and built many local logging roads.
He enjoyed his life in the outdoors and later in retirement owned a gold mine in Atlin, BC.
Art was predeceased by wife of 61 years, Louise, parents George and Mary Remple, brothers Walter and Frank, and sisters Eva, Elsie and Loreen.
He is survived by sisters Hilda (Ron) Curr and Martha. Daughters, Mary (Merv) Zamikousky, Nancy Baker and son Ron and families.
Art was a generous, hard working, honest, gentleman. He enjoyed, so much, to have Visitors and was known to have a few shots of whiskey and of course lots of laughs.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Bruce Nicholson, Carefree Manor, Fischer Place as well as all the nurses, care-aldes and support workers for the compassion and care you gave Dad.
Dad you were a wonderful husband, father and friend and Grandpa. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his (little chickens). We will always love you and forever share our memories of you.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
