1911 - 2010
Arnold Robinson graduated to Heaven on October 6, 2010 in 100 Mile House, at the grand age of 99. Arnold was born in England and moved to Canada on his own in 1927 to Quatsino Sound on Vancouver Island. Arnold was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Regiment stationed in Vernon, B.C. during the Second World War. During his working life, he was a building contractor, building many custom homes in the Lower Mainland. Arnold met Marion Lewis in Vancouver and they were married on October 18, 1958. The family lived in the Lower Mainland until 1974 when they moved to the 108 Mile Ranch to retire. He was involved in many community volunteer organizations including President of the 100 Mile Historic Society and founding member of the Elders Building Society of 100 Mile House. He was instrumental in the building of the Creekside Center for Seniors. Arnold loved music and played his steel guitar in church and at get-togethers. He also loved gardening, golfing, building children’s furniture and hiking in the mountains especially in the Rocky Mountains, Jasper and Lake Louise.
Arnold was predeceased by his mother Sarah Robinson (Simmonds) and father Robert Robinson. He leaves behind his loving wife of almost 52 years Marion, two sons: Mark (Sang-Hee), Keith and two daughters: Rowan living in Wales and Sheila (Emile), nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren as well as many family and friends in England, Australia and Canada.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Cariboo Christian Life Fellowship on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to World Vision, 1 World Drive, Mississauga, Ontario L5T 2Y4
The family wishes to thank the staff at 100 Mile & District Hospital and doctors for the kindness and care of their father during his short stay in hospital.
