1952-2021 ~ It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Al Jones on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from his battle with cancer. He fought the fight with courage and quiet determination, but got called home to be with those who went before him.
He leaves to mourn him wife Gayle, daughters Jessica (Darius), Elisha (Ed), brothers Daryl (Thelma), Barry (Maureen). Step Mom Belle, grandchildren: Caleb, Liam, Abigail, sisters-in-law Linda (Mick), Louise (Eric), brother in law Jim plus eight nephews and nieces.
Al was predeceased by his sister Cheryl, mother Lorraine and father Robert.
Al was born in 1952 and spent his first 30 years in Victoria, BC. In 1980 Al moved to the Cariboo and began his career in learning how to build log homes.
Al had many interests over his lifetime, top most being very involved with the Lone Butte Historical Association. Relocating and restoring Willowford School, up keep of the Lone Butte Pioneer Cemetery, repairing and refurbishing the Alice Singleton Heritage House, re-roofing and painting the water tower and speeder shed and of course his most favourite the relocation of the caboose into Water Tower Park and creating a museum of Old Lone Butte. He did this with our small, hard working core of LBHA members.
Al had his own rock band in high school, was deeply involved in the martial arts for a good part of his life, played guitar, was well read, liked to draw, loved outdoor life, built our two log homes and was an excellent cook.
As per Al's wishes no service during Covid. A gathering of family and friends will be determined at a later date.
Al requested donations be made to the Lone Butte Historical Association at P.O. Box 143,
Lone Butte, BC VOK IXO
