Woman injured in a single-vehicle collision

Emergency services busy with MVI and mill fire on July 25-26

At 11:07 p.m. on July 25, 100 Mile House RCMP members were called to a report of a motor vehicle incident (MVI) on Highway 97 near Canim-Hendrix Lake Road.

Upon arrival, it was found that a small passenger car travelling southbound on Highway 97 drove off road right into the back of a parked chip truck trailer at what is known as the 101 pullout.

An 86-year-old woman, who was the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle, was seriously injured as a result of the collision.

100 Mile House RCMP Cpl. Brian Lamb says the woman was transferred to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops for treatment.

A collision analyst from Williams Lake RCMP attended the scene as well as members of the Cariboo Chilcotin Traffic Services Section to conduct a scene investigation.

The south bound lane was shut down for several hours while the investigation took place. Traffic was slowed, but it was alternating on the northbound lanes until the scene investigation was complete.

100 Mile House RCMP are asking for any witnesses to the MVI to call police at 250-395-2456. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor and the investigation is continuing.

100 Mile House Fire Rescue members responded to the MVI and extricated the woman from the vehicle and handed her of to a BC Ambulance Service crew.

Mill fire

Immediately following the MVI, 100 Mile House Fire Rescue responded to Norbord OSB Mill for a fire.

Upon arrival, firefighting crews assisted mill staff in cooling nearby machinery and extinguishing the isolated fire.

"The fire was unable to spread to other areas of the mill due to the quick action of staff and the fast call to 9-1-1," says Fire Rescue chief Roger Hollander.
