Water workshop offered in 100 Mile House

Fraser Basin Council meeting in 100 Mile House

The Fraser Basin Council (FBC) is holding a workshop in 100 Mile House to help people learn about, and build, capacity for water and watershed planning.

“Rethinking Our Water Ways – A Workshop on Water and Watershed Planning in the Face of Climate Change and other Challenges” is a series of regional workshops FBC is conducting throughout British Columbia.

These workshops are intended for anyone with roles, responsibilities and interests in different types of water or watershed planning.

This may include all levels of government (local, First Nations, provincial and federal), community stewardship organizations and people in various sectors that use water for industry, agriculture, communities, tourism and recreation.

The workshops coincide with the launch of a new guide: Rethinking Our Water Ways - A Guide to Water and Watershed Planning for BC Communities.

The guide and associated workshops are intended to explore key water and watershed issues; examine planning processes in managing water issues; raise awareness and interest in water and watershed planning; review local and regional perspectives; and cover other aspects.

The workshops will also raise awareness and understanding of climate impacts on water and how communities can integrate climate adaptation into watershed plans.

There is no cost to attend the workshop, which will be held Oct. 24 in the Valley Room at The Lodge, and all participants will receive a copy of the guide.

Interested people are asked to register online in advance at www.createsurvey.com/c/79932-VcYLy3/ to help organizers arrange logistics and catering.
