Two-vehicle collision closes Highway 97

Nov. 15 collision sends drivers to hospital with one transferred to Kamloops

  • Nov. 17, 2016 5:00 p.m.

At 7:26 on Nov. 15, 100 Mile House RCMP were called to a report of a two-vehicle incident on Highway 97 just south of Easzee Drive near the 108 Mile Ranch.

100 Mile House Fire Rescue, 108 Mile Ranch Volunteer Fire Department and BC Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

It was determined a pick-up truck travelling southbound and a sport utility vehicle travelling northbound were involved in a head-on collision.

A female driver and the lone occupant of the southbound truck was taken to 100 Mile District General Hospital for treatment for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

A female who was driving the SUV and the sole occupant was initially taken to 100 Mile District General Hospital for treatment, but was subsequently transported to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops for what are believed to be significant injuries.

Highway 97 was blocked in both directions while crews worked on removing the driver from the SUV and a scene investigation was conducted.

The highway was around 10 a.m.

Road and weather conditions at the time were a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation. Any witnesses to this incident are asked to call the 100 Mile House RCMP.

Police are also reminding motorists to adjust their driving to the road and weather conditions, as snow is expected to continue for the next few of days.
