Two anglers were fined $3,050 fine after the Conservation Office Service caught them committing several and various Fisheries Act violations on Big Bar Lake while ice fishing.

“A tip to our 1-800 number led us to investigate this. Conservation Officers from 100 Mile and Lillooet met and attended the location and collected evidence on these anglers and it resulted in several gear seizures,” said CO James Zucchelli.

Several fishing rods, lines, hooks and fish were seized.

Anglers are only allowed one line with one hook fixed to it and are only five fish per day and one fish over 50 centimetres. The anglers in question violated all of these regulations.

The two are now in court.

“People need to follow the rules and regulations. If they see illegal or perceived illegal activity; take down an pertinent information, descriptions of the violators, licence plates and contact the Conservation Office Service,” said Zucchelli.

The hotline is 1-877-952-RAPP (7277).
