TV broadcast signals changing

TV stations switching signals

Many B.C. television stations will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to digital signals only at the end of the month.

According to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) website at www.crtc.gc.ca, as of Aug. 31, many of those who receive local over-the-air TV stations using an outdoor antenna or "rabbit ears" will need to have either a digital converter box or a television with a digital tuner to continue receiving these networks.

Alternately, the CRTC suggests current analog viewers may want to sign up for TV services from a cable, satellite or other service provider.

As well as B.C. stations currently broadcasting analog signals out of Vancouver and Victoria, Kamloops station CFJC confirms they will also implement the change to digital.
