100 Mile House RCMP responded to 67 complaints and calls for service during the past week. Some highlights are as follows:
Truck passes plow on right-hand side
On Feb. 3, on Highway 97 near the 103 Mile entrance, the male driver of a Chevrolet pick-up attempted to pass an Interior Roads plow vehicle on the right-hand side. The truck impacted the plow blade and then went into the ditch. The male driver of the pickup appeared unhurt and was able to get out of his vehicle but then left the scene prior to police attendance. A plate number was obtained and the driver is being sought. The investigation into this incident is continuing.
Suspended driver
On Feb. 2, Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services conducted a check on a Cadillac STS on Canim Hendrix Lake Road. The female driver was unable to produce a license and provided a name which was determined to be false.
The driver was arrested for obstruction under the Motor Vehicle Act. Her real identity was discovered and it was determined that she was a suspended driver.
The vehicle was also determined to be uninsured. The 37-year-old female was released with a court date of April and was served a violation ticket for driving without insurance. The vehicle was impounded.
Drugs seized
On Feb. 2, 100 Mile RCMP conducted a traffic stop with a Saturn Ion in the 103 Mile area with two occupants because of expired Alberta license plates. During the investigation, a quantity of cocaine and methamphetamines were seized from the driver.
The passenger of the vehicle was determined to be in violation of his release conditions and he was arrested. A quantity of cocaine and methamphetamines were seized from the passenger. Charges of possession of controlled substances are being recommended to Crown against the 32 and 26-year-old male residents of the 100 Mile House area. The investigation into this incident is continuing.
Two-vehicle collision
On Jan. 31, 100 Mile RCMP and Emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Easzee Drive in the 108 Mile Ranch. The female driver of a Chrysler Dynasty failed to stop at the stop sign and impacted a Subaru Forester.
The occupants of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and one was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the first vehicle was issued a violation ticket for failing to obey a stop sign. Both vehicles were towed because of damage.
