Trains collide in Lone Butte

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 79 calls for service during the past week. Some highlights are as follows:

Train collision

On April 30, RCMP were advised of a head-on collision between two trains in the area of Taylor Lake Rd in Lone Butte.

The area where the collision occurred could not be reached by vehicle.

RCMP utilized ATV’s to attend to the area with EHS and assistance from the Lone Butte Fire Dept.

Four occupants on the trains received minor injuries and were transported by a CN Rail truck designed to travel on the train tracks to a waiting ambulance.

They were taken to 100 Mile House Hospital where they were later released.

There was no evidence of anything criminal in nature and the investigation is now being followed up on by CN Rail Police.

Grow op

On April 29, RCMP received a report of abandoned 911 call in the area of the 7000 block of Taylor Lake Rd in Lone Butte.

A residence in the area was checked and found to have a marijuana grow operation.

A 30-year-old male resident from Chilliwack was found on the property and arrested.

A search warrant for the property was granted and 977 fully grown marijuana plants were found as a result.

Various offence related equipment was seized and it appears as though the entire residence was being used primarily for growing marijuana.

The male was later released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Truck theft

On April 29, RCMP received a report of a theft of a truck which was parked on the Cedar Creek Rd area.

The truck is a 2003 Dodge Ram blue in colour with BC license plate JW5756.

Two firearms were inside the vehicle at the time described as a Weatherby 7MM rifle and a Remington 30-06 rifle.

The incident occurred between April 24 and April 29.

Propane turned on

On April 26, RCMP received a report of mischief at a residence on the 5000 block of 103 Mile Lake Rd.

A resident had returned home from being away and heard a hissing noise and found that someone had turned on the propane to their barbeque.

The incident occurred between 5 and 10:30 p.m.

Slammed door

On April 26, RCMP received a report of mischief to a business inside the Cariboo Mall.

A male customer described as caucasian, red hair, with lots of tattoos was unhappy when he left the business and slammed the door shut causing the glass inside it to break.

The incident occurred just after 3 p.m.
