100 Mile RCMP responded to 107 complaints and calls for service during the past week.
Excessive speeders
100 Mile Traffic Services was busy during this past weekend, as there were five vehicles impounded for excessive speeds ranging from 47 to 60 km/h over the posted speed limit.
All of the drivers were charged with excessive speeding and their vehicles were impounded for seven days. All of the drivers were from outside of the 100 Mile House area.
Wouldn’t blow
On Sept. 9, 100 Mile RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver in a Ford Taurus on Highway 97 near the 108 Mile Ranch.
The vehicle was stopped as a back up unit arrived. The driver immediately displayed signs of impairment bordering on intoxication.
He was detained and returned to the 100 Mile House detachment, where he refused to provide a breath sample and was held in custody until he displayed an ability to care for himself.
Charges of impaired driving and refusal of a breath demand are being recommended to Crown counsel against a 45-year-old Lac la Hache resident.
Passed out driver
On Sept. 9, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a male passed out in a vehicle on Highway 97 near Spring Lake Road north of 100 Mile House.
BC Ambulance Services personnel attended and the driver was removed from the vehicle. During the investigation, the driver exhibited symptoms of alcohol impairment.
The driver was transported to hospital by ambulance and treated. A blood demand was given to the driver.
The driver's blood samples were taken and seized and will be sent to the forensic lab for analysis to determine if his blood alcohol exceeded the legal limit.
The investigation into this matter is continuing.
Rear-ended
On Sept. 9, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 97 at First Street in 100 Mile House.
The male driver of a black Ford Ranger pickup began to accelerate in the northbound lane on Highway 97 and was forced to slow down because of a commercial vehicle in front of him.
The driver of a red Kia was accelerating behind the Ford Ranger and did not slow down. The red Kia impacted the rear of the Ford Ranger.
Neither of the occupants was injured. Both vehicles could be driven away and the traffic flow was not impacted.
The driver of the red Kia was issued a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act for following too close.
