Suspended driver without insurance

On March 17, 100 Mile RCMP observed a Dodge Stratus being driven on Highway 97 near 103 Mile House. A query of the license plate showed it was not registered to that vehicle. The driver was pulled over and the female driver was recognized by officers as being a suspended driver. The female was issued a violation ticket for driving without insurance and failure to comply with restrictions. She was also issued an appearance notice for Court in 100 Mile House for driving while suspended. This is the second offence of this nature in less than a month for this person. The vehicle was towed and impounded.

One was on Highway 97 near Crystal Springs Resort north of Lac la Hache, the other was on Highway 24 near Lone Butte. In both cases, weather and road conditions played a factor. Neither driver was seriously injured. No charges are being considered.

Update on Stolen Oldsmobile Alero

On March 14, 100 Mile RCMP were notified about a sighting of the stolen Oldsmobile Alero. Witnesses contacted the owner and police and monitored the vehicle on Cedar Avenue until police arrived. Subsequent investigation determined that the person who had been seen in the vehicle was the same youth who had been involved with the stolen Jeep from March 12. The male youth was arrested.

He was remanded into custody and appeared in Williams Lake Provincial Court on Monday, March 19. He has been charged with several property-related offences and breaching the conditions of his undertaking.

There is still an active police investigation relating to the property which is believed to have been stolen from several unlocked vehicles over the previous week.
