Around 12:57 p.m. on Jan. 27, the 100 Mile House RCMP detachment was advised by the 100 Mile House Elementary School principal that a group of students, who had been playing in the schoolyard at lunchtime, had an unpleasant encounter with an adult male.
Investigation into the incident revealed several youths had been gesturing at a vehicle as it was driving by the schoolyard. A male suspect in the vehicle took exception to the gestures, got out of his vehicle, and approached the school fence.
The man swore at the students and then proceeded to grab a student by the back of the jacket from over the fence, striking him on the arm in the process. The man threatened to come over the fence to beat the students up.
He subsequently released the student, re-entered the suspect vehicle and departed the scene in the vehicle with four other occupants.
The suspect vehicle was described as being a small red older model sedan-type car.
The suspect male was described as having brown skin, between 30 and 40 years old, with a slim build, thick brown hair with a bald spot on the top and a moustache. He was wearing blue jeans with holes in them, a black leather jacket with zippers on the lower arms and buttons on the front, and with black-and-blue steel-toed work boots with laces.
Police believe this is an isolated incident, which is not considered to be high risk for further repetition or escalation, but is requesting the public assist them in identification of the suspect.
