100 Mile RCMP responded to 76 complaints and calls for service.
Stabbing
On Jan. 13, the 100 Mile RCMP received a complaint that a male had been stabbed in the abdomen. The injuries were reported to not life-threatening. When officers attended to speak with the victim, he refused to cooperate or provide any information about what had occurred. The victim was transported to Royal Inland Hospital for further treatment. The investigation into this incident is continuing. 100 Mile RCMP do not believe that there is any danger to the public as a result of this incident.
Impounded vehicle
On Jan. 12, Cariboo-Chilcotin Traffic Services stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 97 at the south end of 100 Mile House. The male driver did not have a valid B.C. drivers license. The vehicle was not properly licensed or insured and was mechanically defective. The driver was issued several violation tickets and the vehicle was impounded.
RCMP find loaded rifle in car after pulling driver over
On Jan. 8, 100 Mile RCMP stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Cedar Avenue. The driver immediately attempted to hide beside the vehicle. RCMP determined the driver to have a warrant for arrest. A search of the area discovered a loaded .22 calibre rifle in proximity to the driver. Further weapons were seized from the vehicle including bear spray and ‘brass’ knuckles. RCMP held the male suspect in custody but eventually released him on a promise to appear for a court date on May 7. Two firearms charges, a weapons charge and a count of drive while suspended are being recommended to crown against a 31-year-old male from 100 Mile House. The vehicle was towed and impounded.
Stolen property
100 Mile RCMP have seized a considerable amount of property believed to be stolen from a number of break-ins which have occurred around the Cariboo over the past few months. Investigators are attempting to establish ownership of these items and expect to be in touch with various owners over the next while.
CRIME STOPPERS TIPS OF THE WEEK
On Jan. 8, at 3:00 p.m., a female suspect stole a blue tooth speaker from The Source in 100 Mile House. The suspect is described as wearing a dark winter coat with fur trim, wearing grey pants and carrying a dark green bag or purse. This suspect was in the company of another female. The amount of loss is not known at this time.
