OSB Mill fire

Norbord OSB Mill employees quickly contained dryer fire

Around 24 hours after returning from a hazardous material spill incident on Sept. 22, 100 Mile House Fire Rescue firefighters responded to the Norbord OSB Mill for a fire just after 2 a.m. on Sept. 23.

The fire appeared to have been started in one of the mill’s dryers.

Due to the quick actions of the mill staff, the fire was contained to the dryer and did not spread to the rest of the building.

Fire Rescue crews were able to action the fire and confirm it was fully extinguished, says fire chief Roger Hollander.

"Fortunately, no injuries occurred to either the mill staff or Fire Rescue personnel."
