Mayor dispels hearsay rumours

rumours of district non support of meat co-op ridiculous

Mayor Mitch Campsall says the rumour mill is churning out false information about the level of support the District of 100 Mile House has for the South Cariboo Meat Co-op (SCMC).

He notes the word has been trickling in at both the district office and to the SCMC board that the staff, mayor and council are not fully supportive of the new abattoir.

Campsall says that notion is simply not true.

"The mayor, council and staff are 100 per cent behind this co-op. We will support it right to the end."

He wants to put these erroneous comments to rest, so people in the community don't worry about false information of hindrances to the project at the district office level.

The co-op is run by a group volunteers who have "worked so hard and done such a good job," Campsall says, adding they need "nothing but positive" to get the facility up and running.

Staff has been given direction by council to expedite anything they can legally, he adds.

"The board has seen what we have already done, and they believe that. We're going above and beyond to see this [abattoir project] goes through."
