Mail stolen from rural post office boxes

Residents urged to monitor their banking and utility accounts and report suspicious activity to those institutions

Sometime overnight of July 16, unknown culprits opened five separate sets of rural post office boxes and stole mail from various individual boxes.

The affected mail boxes were at the intersections of:

Fallsway and Horse Lake roads;

Ryall and Horse Lake roads;

Higgins Lake and Mahood Lake roads;

Highway 24 and Bell Road; and

Cottonwood Bay and North Bridge Lake roads.

The amount of mail stolen is not known; however, a considerable amount of unopened mail was located on July 17, in the vicinity of the Intertakes Transfer Station. This mail has been returned to the Lone Butte Post Office for re-distribution.

100 Mile RCMP are issuing a notice to those individuals who had mail stolen to monitor their banking and utilities account activity regularly and to notify those institutions if there is any suspicious activity.

The investigation into these thefts is continuing.
