Hostile incident involving handgun on Birch Ave.

From Dec. 28 to 30, after responding to and locating numerous break and enters in the Canim Lake S Road and Canim-Hendrix Road areas, police executed a search warrant on Dec. 30 involving a property in the 500 block of Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House.

Several items related to a number of break and enters, some dating back to the summer, were seized from the residence. Police will be contacting businesses and individuals in the coming weeks to identify property which may belong to them. Police are continuing their investigation into these incidents.

In the week leading up to Christmas, 100 Mile House RCMP responded to 79 complaints and calls for service. Some highlights are as follows:

Hostile incident involving handgun

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 22, a male walking on Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House was accosted by another unknown male who allegedly produced a handgun.

The male was walking along Birch Ave and was approached by the suspect male. The suspect male made a belligerent comment to the victim as the victim continued to walk away from the suspect after he showed the gun to the victim. The suspect proceeded alongside of the victim, making comments regarding the victim continuing to walk away from a man with a gun. Eventually, the suspect stopped following the victim near the library, who continued along Birch Ave. The victim was not injured during the brief contact with the suspect.

Police were not advised of the incident until later in the day. The suspect male is described being approximately 5’9” tall and wearing brown pants, a green coat, gloves, a hat and a balaclava. His voice was described as raspy. 100 Mile RCMP are asking anyone who may have been present in that location at that time and may have witnessed this incident, to call the RCMP or call Crime Stoppers. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Collision

On Dec. 20, police and emergency crews responded to a single vehicle collision on Canim-Hendrix Lake Road near Sundman Road. The driver of a GMC Sierra pick-up truck allegedly fell asleep and left the roadway, crossed the ditch and ended up in a yard on Sundman Road. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver was taken to 100 Mile Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The investigation into the cause of this collision is continuing.

Bike returned to RCMP

On Dec. 20 a bicycle was turned into the 100 Mile RCMP which had been abandoned on Heron Ridge Road. The bicycle is described as blue and& red Mountain bike. If you are missing a bicycle matching this description, please contact the 100 Mile RCMP and quote file 2018-4793.

Collision

On Dec. 19, police and emergency crews responded to a single vehicle roll-over collision on Womack Road near Deka Lake. The female driver of a Toyota Rav 4 lost control on icy roads and went into the ditch and the vehicle rolled onto its roof. The driver was extricated from the vehicle and taken to 100 Mile Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene. No charges are being contemplated from this collision.

CRIME STOPPERS TIPS OF THE WEEK

Sometime overnight of Dec. 21, unknown culprits stole a 2727-foot utility trailer from the Interlakes Landfill site. This trailer had two large water tanks on it. Later over the weekend, unknown culprits broke into a storage locker on a property near Lac des Roches and stole a side-by-side UTV, a welder and a shotgun where parts of the first trailer were left behind . A possible suspect vehicle was provided as a white Ford single-cab pick-up towing a trailer.
