Expired decal leads to bust

A couple driving a stolen truck and travel trailer were caught with what police say was a "significant amount" of various drugs on June 2.

A 100 Mile RCMP release states the local Traffic Services observed a black Ford F350 pickup truck with a male driver and female passenger travelling northbound on Highway 97 near Lac la Hache.

The truck was towing a travel trailer, which appeared to have a green licence decal indicating the insurance was expired.

The vehicles were checked in Lac la Hache and police determined they both were stolen.

The driver and female were on probation. During a roadside search, police found a significant amount of cannabis, cocaine, heroin, and crystal meth.

According to the RCMP, the driver initially provided a false name and false information on the truck and trailer.

A drug recognition expert conducted a test and found the driver to be impaired.

Both individuals were placed in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
