Election procedural error cost leadership

Dan Brooks not the leader of BC Conservative Party

The board of directors of the British Columbia Conservative Party announces on Nov. 2 that the position of leader of the B.C. Conservative Party is now vacant.

The move happened when the provincial board learned a constitutional procedural error was made by the board during the process of approving one of the candidates Dan Brooks.

Brooks has returned to the helm of the B.C. Conservatives.

He won the party's leadership race in Prince George earlier with 52.1 per cent of the vote, narrowly edging out Konrad Pimiskern on a second ballot.

Upon further investigation and upon the opinion of senior counsel, the board determined the results announced at the Convention were not valid.
