Driving incidents top the RCMP’s weekly blotter

100 Mile House police report

100 Mile RCMP responded to 96 complaints and calls for service during the past week.

 

Drinking and driving

On Aug. 28, 100 Mile RCMP stopped a vehicle on Canim-Hendrix Lake Road near Buffalo Creek for operating the vehicle without headlights.

During this traffic stop, the male driver of the vehicle was determined to have consumed liquor. An approved roadside screening device was administered and the result was a fail.

The 28-year-old Buffalo Creek area resident met the criteria and was subsequently issued an immediate roadside 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.

 

Excessive driving

On Aug. 27, 100 Mile Traffic Services observed a vehicle being operated at a high rate of speed on Highway 97 near Alpine Avenue in 100 Mile House.

The vehicle was checked on radar at being operated at 113 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The 17-year-old male driver from St. Albert, Alta. was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

 

Hit and run

On Aug. 26, 100 Mile RCMP, ambulance and the 108 Mile Ranch Volunteer Fire Department were on scene of an injured cyclist on Easzee Drive in the 108 Mile Ranch.

While the male was being tended to, a white Ford Explorer drove into one of the emergency responder's vehicles and then accelerated away rapidly. Police immediately began to pursue the driver who was driving erratically on Easzee Drive.

The driver turned into a driveway on Easzee Drive where police were able to detain her and her passenger. The female driver showed signs of liquor impairment.

She was returned to the 100 Mile RCMP detachment where two breath samples were obtained of 120 and 100 mg per cent.

Charges of impaired driving, driving over the legal limit and failing to remain at the scene of a collision are being recommended to Crown against a 69-year-old female resident of 100 Mile House.

 

ATV incident

On Aug. 26, police responded to a report of a single ATV roll-over collision with injuries that occurred on Doman Road near 100 Mile House.

The female driver had lost control of the ATV after it started to move into the ditch. She was thrown from the ATV and landed in the ditch.

The female was transported by ambulance to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

 

Compound break-in

On Aug. 26, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a complaint of a break-and-enter to a fenced compound in the 100 Mile House Industrial Park on Exeter Road.

Unknown culprits had cut the fence to the back of the compound and stole diesel fuel and copper welding cable.
