Drinkers slow to learn driving can be costly

100 Mile RCMP responded to 75 complaints and calls for service during the past week.

 

Business vandalized

On April 17, Citizens on Patrol advised the 100 Mile RCMP of a broken window at a business in the downtown core.

The window had been kicked twice and a metal garbage can had been thrown through it. Two separate footwear impressions were identified.

Neighbourhood inquiries showed there were two young males reported as being intoxicated in the area at the time.

No L for loser

On April 17, 100 Mile Traffic Services was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 97 south of 100 Mile House, and a 2000 Ford Ranger was stopped for speeding.

The amount of speed was determined to be excessive. The driver was charged with excessive speeding and failing to display the new driver's symbol.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days.

 

Stolen vehicle

On April 16, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a complaint of an abandoned Red 1997 Honda Civic Hatchback report at Begbie Summit on Highway 97.

The plate number provided by the complainant indicated the vehicle had been stolen from Kelowna on April 15. The vehicle was examined for evidence and towed.

Drinking driver

On April 15, police received a report of a possible impaired driver on Canim Hendrix Lake Road.

The vehicle was located at the intersection of Canim Hendrix Lake Road and Canim Lake Road South. The driver displayed symptoms of liquor consumption.

An approved roadside screening device was administered to the female driver, and the result was a fail.

She met the requirements and was, therefore, issued a 90-day roadside driving prohibition. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

 

 

On April 11, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a report that a black Chevrolet S-10 had been coming into 100 Mile House from Canim Hendrix Lake Road.

The driver of the vehicle had apparently thrown a beer can out of the window. The vehicle was located near Kennedy Road.

The driver was determined to have been consuming liquor. He was administered an approved roadside screening device and the result was a fail.

The driver met the requirements and was, therefore, issued a 90-day roadside driving prohibition. His vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.
