Dog wakes master in smoke-filled home

Clinton RCMP deal with garlic crazed cows and a fire

Around 9:30 on Nov. 6, the Clinton RCMP and Clinton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 3 Mile Lake, south of Clinton.

The lone male occupant was woken by his dog barking as the cabin filled with smoke. The origin of the fire was the wood stove.

It appeared combustion of articles near the stove started the fire. The sole occupant suffered from minor smoke inhalation and was treated by Emergency Health Services.

Cows graze garlic crop

Clinton RCMP is seeking information in relation to damage to a farm crop that occurred between Oct. 27 and 31 at Hooke Farms, located at 1140 Hooke Rd. in Clinton.

During that period an unknown person(s) entered the property and corralled several heads of cattle into an enclosure, preventing the cattle from accessing any food.

It appears that due to lack of food, the cattle pushed down a fence that adjoined a garlic crop, leading to the loss of the crop. Damage is estimated to be as much as $10,000. Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact the Clinton RCMP at 250-459-2221.
