Council considers zoning

Following are the highlights from the Oct. 11 council meeting of the District of 100 Mile House

Zoning amendments

Council gave first and second reading to a zoning amendment for the minimum lot size from .2 hectare (.49 acre) to .15 ha (.37 ac) for the new Blackstock Estates housing development at 440 Horse Lake Road at Forest Ridge Road.

An Official Community Plan (OCP) amendment bylaw and zoning amendment bylaw for 440 Horse Lake Road was initiated by staff as a “housekeeping” amendment.

Deputy Director of Corporate Administration Donna Bellingham says this is intended to rezone the property to Administrative, Cultural and Institutional P1, to correct for an oversight when the map for the OCP was developed.

The new zoning is for the Christ the King Lutheran Church and is conducive to having a church there, she explains.

All of these zoning and OCP bylaws amendment will now go to public hearing on Nov. 8.
