Clearwater RCMP were asked to assist Kamloops RCMP earlier this month where a vehicle fled from police and the occupants were suspected of numerous offences including attempting to assault police with a weapon and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Clearwater detachment commander Sgt. Grant Simpson said they received the report May 11 at 5:11 p.m.
Barriere RCMP also had a complaint related to a traffic incident where a vehicle of the same description, a white Audi, had dangerously passed six vehicles at a time on a double solid line and failed to stop for a Conservation Officer.
Clearwater RCMP assisted in conducting patrols and later were able to safely spike belt the vehicle and arrest the occupants of the vehicle.
Const. Meyer initially arrested a 34-year-old Kamloops man for flight from police and possession of a prohibited weapon for having brass knuckles.
The vehicle was registered to a 30-year-old Kamloops man. Simpson noted a search of the vehicle revealed cocaine in bags in a purse and containers in addition to 9mm ammunition.
After confirming the arrested male was in the front passenger seat, it was later decided to release him in Kamloops without charges. The vehicle was towed and stored. A multi-jurisdictional investigation into this incident is ongoing.
