Chamber of Commerce welcomes new executive director

Shelly Morton takes on office administration helm

The South Cariboo Chamber of Commerce has welcomed a new executive director.

Shelly Morton has joined the team to work four days a week out of the local Chamber office.

Morton notes she has lived in the community for 35 years, grew up at Canim Lake, and has been a stay-at-home mother for several years while also doing plenty of volunteer work.

Currently, she is 100 Mile Festival of the Arts Committee treasurer and 100 Mile House & District Soccer Association director of programs.

"I'm really excited about this role. I haven't been in the workforce for quite a while. It's a lot of learning, but there are a lot of resources out there and everybody has been very supportive."

Morton says she is enthusiastic about the challenge and the chance to get to know others in the community and to form new business connections.

"We have our membership renewal coming up, so I'm looking forward to that, and to meeting all the members and encouraging more to join."

For information on membership, call Shelly at 250-395-6124, leave her a message if she is away, or e-mail manager@southcariboochamber.org.

She also welcomes folks to stop by the office 2-385 Birch Ave. (on Fourth Street, across from Ace Hardware) for information on membership, or to get acquainted, between 9 a.m and 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays.
